The Details - Bridesmaids

Our colour scheme was mint and pink, and despite mint being quite 'in' at the moment, I couldn't find dresses I liked for the life of me! After a bit of a palava with ill fitting dresses off etsy, we found them!

They are actually the same dresses my sister had for her bridesmaids, hers in teal, mine in mint.

The colour was originally a bit darker than I wanted but on the day it looked perfect!

Along with Amber's little mint dress

The girls all had pink shoes, which were again hard to settle on!

So I think it all came together well on the day!

The groomsmen all wore mint polkadot ties with the exception of the groom, who had a darker mint colour. This wasn't planned...silly me forgot to order the extra tie! Oops!

The Details - Veil, tiara and garter

I chose to have a veil and tiara as my dress was fairly plain. At first I wasn't sure, but when trying them on in the shop they just completed the look.

My veil was a standard, 2 tier, ivory veil with diamantés and drop crystals. Simple, but I loved the way it hit my shoulders then fell down my back!

Tiara...was quote blingy! Again, not something I would have chosen but the dress shop owner plonked it on my head and it just fit. I had several nightmares a out it slipping around whilst saving my vows but it stayed put!

And finally my garter, one of my favourite accessories from the day. My mum hand made it! The blue is a strap from her maternity dungarees which she wore to wed in herself (she was 7 months pregnant with me!) and the pink lace is from my late Nana's sewing box. It was my something old and blue rolled into one, and such a personal touch. I hope that one day, if/when my daughter marries, she chooses to wear it, and I can add something from my wedding day to it.

The Details - My dress

I want to remember the day forever, so I'm going to do some posts filled with all the little details that made our day what it was!

My dress

My dress was a gorgeous sweetheart neckline dress with a fuller skirt. The detail was actually a belt which tied at the back. The dress was fastened with a zip (it had mock buttons) and was ivory. Fairly plain, but I adored it! It wasn't my first choice, when we went back to pay for my original chosen dress I saw this one on a mannequin in the window and was instantly drawn to it. Love at first try on!

It was absolutely filthy at the end of the day! It had a multitude of stains, including food dropped on me by Amber, food dropped on my by myself, mud and confetti stains.

A lot of brides get their dresses dry cleaned, but I think I'll leave mine. I quite like looking how well loved and worn it was, each mark provides a different memory. It has had a thorough drying out so it doesn't go mouldy (!) and is now hanging in our spare room. I'd really like to get a dress form to keep it looking pretty on!

I definitely won't be selling it, I want Amber to be able to see it and dress up in it when she's older, even include it in her own wedding somehow if she chooses.

My favourite compliment I had on the day was from Amber, whispering 'wow!' And kissing my dress! 😍

We did it!

On Saturday 7th June we finally became husband and wife!

The day was so much more perfect than we could ever have hoped for. The weather predicted storms, and aside from the small shower whilst we were getting ready, and a little drizzle towards the end of the afternoon we had beautiful sunshine! We afternoon rain brought with it a fantastic double rainbow, blessing us with a gorgeous photo opportunity.

The venue exceeded themselves and we were delighted with everything! It was amazing to walk in and see all the months of planning come to fruitation, with all our friends and family enjoying it together.

The photo booth was also a big hit, leaving us with a brilliant book of pictures to look through.

I may do a proper write up of the day when I have more time, for my memory's sake if anything. One of the best days of my life!

2 week dash

As I type this, there is 13 days left. THIRTEEN! Less than 2 weeks!

I can't believe it. It's gone so quick, yet it's really dragged by. I thought I was ready, now I'm panicking and thinking of things I might have missed!

My final checklist at the moment is

• Put music onto a disc
• Sort thank yous for the groomsmen
• Make sure Amber's dress fits!
• Sort stuff to pack for the weekend
• Buy outfit for last supper/hen do
• Finish the table plan

And I'm sure more will come to me tonight when I'm trying to sleep but can't with all the wedding thoughts filling my mind!

Joe is on his stag weekend in Liverpool and isn't home until Monday. Thursday is my hair and make up trial. Saturday is my hen do...we're off the spa and I can not wait! Nervous to be away from my baby for the whole day but she'll have a whale of a time with her Daddy.

The following week I'm having my nails done on the Wednesday, eyelashes on the Thursday then Friday is spent taking things to the venue, packing our bags and heading over for a last meal as a 'single' couple, with our closest family.

In just days time I will be a Mrs! I'll have a husband! Our family will be sealed, all together. And I CAN'T WAIT!

Wedding Organisation

Pinterest and google are jam packed with schedules for brides, detail when you should be doing what task, and they all made my mind boggle!

The best thing I ever did while planning this wedding was buying a big note book. A simple, A4 (pink) note book.

It starts with day guest list - 80 of.

Evening guest list - 30 of.

Guests menu choices...why didn't we ever go with the buffet option?! Trying to chase 80 guests for their choices from the menu has been one of the most stressful parts. 'This without sauce, vegetarian for starter but beef for main, don't want a desert (WHAT?!)' etc etc. Now I see why at most weddings you get what you're given!

The To Do list. Oh my. This list has been never ending! At the start it seemed so daughnting, so I split it into segments. Things to buy. Things to order. Outfits. Decorations. You get the jist. It makes me happy to be able to tick these off, or to add the new packages the post man has wrestled through the letter box into the ever growing pile.

My mosh recent list has been the list of suppliers. If you're getting married, make this list! As you book things/people, add them on. Company names, numbers, addresses and emails. Copy it and give it to someone else on the day! Just in case. (If you have it ready, you won't need it...right?!)

I can truly say my heart and soul has gone into this planning. And I can't wait to see it all come together! 49 days Eeek!

60 days and counting

60 days to go!

I'm getting so nervous now. Mostly incase I forget something, or I trip, and I just know I won't be able to say my vows properly through the tears!

Time to start organising the seating plan and name cards, plus menu choices. It's all coming so fast!

I have my dress fitting tomorrow, I can't wait to wear it with my shoes and hair done and see it all come together ☺️

Now to decide on head dress/veil etc!

Diamonds and Heels

Possibly the most complicated choices a bride makes for her wedding!

The shoes...do you go traditional? Ivory/white delicate, mid to low heels? Not here, I wanted something a bit more jazzy and that I could wear again.

Statement shoes? Encrusted with diamontes? I did have a look at some of these, but just couldn't bring myself to purchase.

Trendy blinged up converse? Not for me. As cute as they look on the right bride, I want to be a princess, and have the shoes to fit.

Shoes to fit the colour scheme? YES! Not for everyone, I know, but I wanted to add a splash of colour and found these beauties to match perfectly.

Our colour scheme is mint and pink, our bridesmaids have mint dresses and pink shoes, so mine will (hopefully) compliment perfectly!

Here they are...the Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoe, these are the Lady Dragons in mint.

Now, onto the diamonds!

This was important to me, seeing as I'll be wearing it for the rest of my life. It may as well be something I can't take my eyes off?!

To start, this is my engagement ring...

18ct white gold, and perfect to me.

I was faced with the issue of metal for my wedding ring. I couldn't have a 9ct as it would ruin my engagement ring! This seemed to narrow down my options, and raise the price range.

I'd decided I wanted a thinish band, half eternity style. A plain band just seemed too 'underwhelming' next to my rock.

Finally I saw it! After months of searching. After a slight blip with sizing and having to return, it's now in my possession

To stay shut in it's box until the big day (although let's face it, who wouldn't get it out and try it on from time to time?! 😉)

Au revoir! x

In full swing

Sorry little neglected blog. Have a new title to make up for it :)

With just 76 days left until the big ones, this is now become my main focus. I spend each day browsing Pinterest, etsy and eBay, slowly filling up our wedding box.

These are the latest addition...

A plaque for the guestbook, and 2 chalk board hearts which will display our thanks on the day.

The guest book is currently being made and I am SO excited for it's arrival!

To save boring all my closest friends on a daily basis, I will vent my wedding stress/excitement/anxiety (delete as appropriate) onto this blog.

Bring on the 7th June 2014!
